Preparation

Confirm your system

Make sure your current filter is a cylindrical cartridge that installs vertically in a head assembly with a quarter-turn locking motion. The AQUENTO 4204490 is designed as a direct cartridge replacement in this style of system.

If the filter in your system is a different shape or uses threaded fittings instead of a twist-lock head, stop and confirm compatibility before installing.

Shut down safely

Turn off the water supply feeding the filter. If your system connects to a powered dispenser or chiller, unplug it. Dispense water until the flow slows to relieve pressure in the lines.

A towel or tray under the filter area helps catch small drips when the old cartridge is removed.

Installation flow

4 steps
1

Remove old cartridge

With the water off and pressure relieved, grasp the existing filter at the bottom, rotate it counterclockwise until it unlocks, and pull it straight down out of the head.

2

Prepare AQUENTO 4204490

Unpack the AQUENTO 4204490, remove the protective cap from the connection end, and check the O-rings to ensure they are present, clean, and undamaged.

3

Align, insert, lock

Align the top of the cartridge with the filter head, matching tabs and slots. Push the cartridge up firmly, then rotate clockwise until it stops and feels fully locked.

4

Turn on and inspect

Slowly reopen the water supply valve and watch the connection between the head and the AQUENTO 4204490 for any signs of leakage.

First use flush

Required

What to expect

During the first use, trapped air and fine carbon particles can cause the water to appear cloudy or slightly gray. This is normal and clears as the filter is flushed.

Flushing steps

  • Open the faucet or dispenser supplied by the AQUENTO 4204490 fully.
  • Allow water to run continuously for about 10 minutes.
  • Discard all water used for flushing.
  • After flushing, check once more around the filter head for leaks.

Item Details
Replacement interval Replace the AQUENTO 4204490 approximately every 6–12 months or after up to 3,000 gallons, whichever comes first.
Low or reduced flow Ensure the shutoff valve is fully open, check tubing for kinks, and replace the cartridge if it has been in service for a long period.
Filter will not lock Remove the cartridge, verify the old filter is completely removed, realign the tabs, and insert straight up before rotating.
Leak at filter head Turn off the water, remove the AQUENTO 4204490, inspect and clean the O-rings, then reinstall and rotate to the full lock position.
Unusual taste or odor Flush the system again for 5–10 minutes. If the issue persists, check your water source and consider replacing the cartridge.
This guide focuses only on mechanical cartridge replacement and flushing. No status chip or light-reset steps are required or described.
