Confirm your system
Make sure your current filter is a cylindrical cartridge that installs vertically in a head assembly with a quarter-turn locking motion. The AQUENTO 4204490 is designed as a direct cartridge replacement in this style of system.
Follow these steps to remove the old cartridge, install the AQUENTO 4204490, flush it correctly, and keep your drinking water system running reliably.

Turn off the water supply feeding the filter. If your system connects to a powered dispenser or chiller, unplug it. Dispense water until the flow slows to relieve pressure in the lines.
With the water off and pressure relieved, grasp the existing filter at the bottom, rotate it counterclockwise until it unlocks, and pull it straight down out of the head.
Unpack the AQUENTO 4204490, remove the protective cap from the connection end, and check the O-rings to ensure they are present, clean, and undamaged.
Align the top of the cartridge with the filter head, matching tabs and slots. Push the cartridge up firmly, then rotate clockwise until it stops and feels fully locked.
Slowly reopen the water supply valve and watch the connection between the head and the AQUENTO 4204490 for any signs of leakage.
During the first use, trapped air and fine carbon particles can cause the water to appear cloudy or slightly gray. This is normal and clears as the filter is flushed.
